MEP Shop Drawings: HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Coordination
HVAC ductwork, plumbing piping and electrical layouts prepared for submittal, coordination and installation.

MEP Shop Drawings show how mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems will be routed and installed, based on the design drawings, specifications and the equipment selected.
Design drawings show intent; MEP shop drawings show routing, dimensions, hangers, penetrations and equipment connections. Ceiling spaces, shafts and mechanical rooms are crowded, and conflicts found on paper cost far less than conflicts found in the field.
We prepare HVAC, plumbing and electrical shop drawings for contractors who need installation-level detail, and we can combine them into coordination drawings when the project requires it.
HVAC shop drawings
Ductwork layouts with sizes, elevations, fittings, dampers and access doors, equipment connections, diffuser and grille locations, and hanger and support details. Duct sizes and static requirements come from the design documents and equipment submittals.
Plumbing shop drawings
Sanitary, vent, domestic water, gas and storm piping with sizes, slopes, elevations, cleanouts, fixture connections and sleeves. Invert elevations and slope requirements are checked against structure and other trades.
Electrical shop drawings
Conduit and cable tray routing, panel and equipment locations, pull boxes, fixture and device locations, and sleeve and penetration locations. Panel schedules and one-line diagrams are shown as designed.
Coordination and clash review
Overlaying systems on a common background reveals interferences with structure, ceilings and other trades. We list clashes, propose resolutions and issue RFIs where the design must change. Drawings are submitted for review and revised after comments. See drafting services and MEP estimating for related work.

Who this service is for
Mechanical, plumbing and electrical subcontractors and general contractors who need installation drawings and coordination support.
How it works
- Send design drawings, specifications and equipment data.
- We confirm the system scope, sheet count and turnaround.
- We draft each system and send a coordination review.
- We revise after comments and design changes.
Software, standards and file formats
We use PlanSwift and Bluebeam Revu for digital takeoff and markup, Excel with current local cost data for pricing, Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project for schedules, and AutoCAD-compatible tools for drawings. Deliverables are Excel and PDF files, plus DWG for drawings.
When to use this service
Use mep shop drawings when a bid date is close, when your team is stretched across projects, when you need an independent check of your own numbers or drawings, or when you want consistent deliverables in the same format every time. Tell us the due date when you request a quote so the schedule can be planned around it.
Engagement options
- One project: order mep shop drawings for a single bid or job and receive a firm price and turnaround before we start.
- Several trades or divisions: combine this service with related scopes so quantities, drawings and pricing agree.
- Bid-season capacity: send multiple projects with their due dates and we schedule the work to hit each one.
- Ongoing support: repeat-volume contractors can agree standard formats, cost codes and turnaround so every delivery drops straight into their process.
Quality control, confidentiality and communication
Every deliverable is reviewed by a second team member before it reaches you, and assumptions, inclusions and exclusions are written down so they can be checked. If information is missing we send a short list of questions rather than guessing, and we tell you which assumption we used when a question cannot be answered in time. Your plans, specifications and files are used only to prepare your project work and are not shared publicly; see our privacy policy.
